SciaticaSciatica results from sciatic nerve compression and is largely due to another underlying spinal condition. Generally, only the lower back is affected with symptoms felt in the buttocks, legs and sometimes feet.
Symptoms of Sciatica
The symptoms of sciatica are felt as pain, weakness, numbness, tingling or "shooting" pain that travels downward to the lower extremities. Often, symptoms become worse following long periods of standing, sitting or walking long distances. As sciatica progresses without treatment, muscle weakness and loss of function may appear in the legs.
